This is the 9th week of my genius hour blog. And unfortunately for whoever is reading this, I don't have a new website and after thinking some more, I will just keep practicing. I am really just too tired to do much as of the day I am writing this, so I am just taking a break. You have to take breaks every so often as not doing so could lead to dire consequences. Also keep in mind for if you think this is lazy, I have school and so do you and we both have other work to do. Instead of thinking random thoughts that I will never know, you could be doing that work that you should do now. Random thought of the week: patronize means both "treat in a way that is apparently kind or helpful but that betrays a feeling of superiority," and " frequent (a store, theater, restaurant, or other establishment) as a customer." It is the same exact word but said in different ways.

This is the genius hour's 8th week blog on Starting with Drawing.
Since I can't really tell you about the website that I do not have yet I will just tell you some techniques to draw better. However, I am only really using pencils to draw so no colors other than black, gray, or white. And, if you want to learn to draw for real, you will have to read and practice more than what I am able to tell you. To make your blacks and whites look like other colors just in black or white, you need to do certain kinds of shading. The most common kind of shading is the gradients. Light colors fading into dark colors or vice versa but it will look better if you don't make the change too steep. Practicing gradients are pretty easy. You have to make a few squares connected to each other. On one side of the entire lane you make it as dark as possible and on the other side you leave it completely white. After those are done you shade in the boxes from getting darker or getting lighter. That is how gradients are practiced easily and if you want more practice then just keep doing that. A random thought of the week has been brought back: read rhymes with lead, lead rhymes with read. But, read and read don't rhyme and lead and lead also don't rhyme. This is the week 7 weebly genius hour project for Mr. Barker in English 2 second period that is being taken in the second class of the second semester of the first and hopefully only sophomore year with a title probably too long to be considered one sentence or even a title
Sorry forgot about the, "Wednesday, April 6th, 2022." So, like I meant to say last week but ended up doing a week later than expected, the website I have been using has been finished. The techniques and stuff seen in it hasn't been entirely learned yet so that is what I am trying to do along with more practice I should be doing. I didn't really practice much during the last week for a reason that was shown in the last week's blog. Wednesday, March 30, 2022
This is my 6th Weebly genius hour project blog that I am doing for the English 2 class I am taking in the second semester of my sophomore year of high school. This week/last week (sorry) I was planning on just practicing on what I had learned from the website shown in the past weeks. Unfortunately, the website stuff has run out so I plan on just practicing that. I am trying to find new websites to learn how to draw better and easier. Sorry about the very very late upload. I was in New Orleans for the final four and championship games. I didn't bring a computer because I have an unfortunate habit of accidentally breaking my computer when I bring it to somewhere else. This is just the normal fifth week's blog post of my starting with drawing, Weebly, Genius Hour Project. As I have been saying on the last two blogs I am still using the same source to learn. and yes I am still trying. Week four of the website and also the last one on there is mostly about things relating to people. Day 1 is construction/pose which I am not sure what that means. Day 2 is proportions, day 3 is muscle structure, day 4 is hands/feet, day 5 is the face, day 6 is the hair, day 7 is the clothes. and of course there is the regular practice between them. The whole of the human body in drawing form. Of course like I said last week, the website I am using only has 4 weeks worth of art. It will take a lot longer to actually learn everything from it as you can't do so in only a month. So next week I will mostly just be practicing and trying to understand what it is I have learned. However, I will try to find new stuff to help me but any website suggestions are very much appreciated. Also, answer the random thoughts. I like seeing if people actually read them. Random thought of the week: You can have something on the edge of your tongue as in speaking or your thoughts in your mind, but is there something like that for your other senses? Like just barely feeling something, smelling something, or seeing something but you don't know what? Wednesday March 16 2022
This is my fourth week of the genius hour project I am doing. As per the usual for the last two blogs I am using the same source for learning to draw. I will say it does get things down but does get hard moderately quickly. Week three of the website is mostly about introducing perspectives into the mix. Specifically, it includes one, two, three, four, and five-point perspectives, with four and five-point perspectives happening on the same day. The fifth day of the week is about elliptical perspectives and the sixth day is about foreshortening. The last day is the usual practice until it looks good enough for you. See the whole week is about perspective. Sorry about being late on last week's drawing, that will be posted later today. And this week’s drawing will go up on Sunday as long as nothing else happens. Lastly, as you might know if you have taken a look at the site I have been using, there are only four weeks worth of learning. While I can practice more, and plan on doing that, I would like some more or other sites to try and get better so if you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments as I do actually look at them. 4th week's random thought: Do you ever accidentally hit your head or knee somewhere and it just makes you angry? Not that it hurts at all but just the fact that you hit it. Wednesday March 9 2022
This is the third week of my genius hour project. The source I am using so far is still the same one as before (The Beginner's Complete Guide to Drawing) but now I am onto the second week. Week two of the guide includes drawing techniques, values, shadows, contrast, texture, reflections, transparencies, and of course practice between all of them. The order you are meant to go in is in the order as seen above such as techniques first and transparencies last. Nothing much has changed from last week apart from learning new things and getting slightly better at drawing. But my sister has been trying to help me get better every once in a while by showing me how to do something and why it works that way. Finally the last two weeks' drawings have been posted in each week's specific blog and I will continue to do so this week at the usual time Sunday. And if you would like to guess what the drawing is a picture of, you are free to guess in the comments as I would look there more than my email. Edit: sorry about not getting the picture up in time. I had a family trip over the weekend and didn't have the time. Edit #2: 3RD WEEK' DRAWING IS FINALLY HERE!!! Wednesday March 2, 2022
This is the second week blog of my starting with drawing genius hour project. Through some research my mom and I have done, we have found a website called "The Beginner's Complete Guide to Drawing." The guide is a four week course with things to do every day. It starts off with the very basics of drawing with how to hold a pencil. The first step isn't required for drawing but different ways of holding a pencil can make different effects. The second step is drawing 2D shapes, and the rest is easily seen on the website with the 7th step being just practice. My first week's drawing is posted on last weeks blog and I will post this weeks drawing on sunday. Here is the website link - https://www.thecuriouslycreative.com/topics/beginners-guide-drawing/ 2nd week's random thought: if you want to make a ruler, your need another ruler to know how long an inch or centimeter is. Second week's drawing below Wednesday February 23, 2022
This first week of my project where I'm trying to relearn how to draw. I haven't actually drawn anything big/good/decent of any sort since elementary school so I am now trying again. I want to try drawing again because my awful drawing that I made a long time ago stayed with me until now and I want to fix it one day. And that day may be sometime in this project. I am not sure what to do first but I want to get the basics down before I jump into the project. I will do so by either trying to find something online or ask for help with my sister who knows how to do art. And after I get the basics down a bit I will try to make a decent drawing and eventually do a good project that could be on someone's wall. I am not sure where exactly to start off but I will try to post a drawing by Sunday every week to see how or even if my drawing skills are increasing. I don't have the drawing yet but I will draw something. It might be a drawing of my cat or a portrait. Also I feel like Wednesday should be spelled as Wensday because it sounds better in my head. And I will try to make the website look better over time. My first attempt below. Edit: turn the computer or phone or whatever you are using clockwise to see the actual picture. |
